Update on the move
Well, yesterday was long and very stressful, but we made it. Fourteen hours of furiously packing, trashing, staging, and shuttling had Ned and Mary Beth staggering through their now-empty house on Wisteria Drive, feeling nostalgic but too exhausted to really take in the moment. The kids seemed more-or-less okay with the situation, considering they came home from school to find all their worldly possessions boxed up and their bedroom furniture gone. For his part, David knows his toys were put on a yellow Penske truck, and by God, he wants to make sure that truck finds the new house in Oxford that is "in the forest."(?) Special thanks to Granddaddy for hauling luggage, refrigerated items, and other miscellany; Granddaddy and Nana for hosting us for a few nights in Madison while we catch our collective breath; and especially to dear Gram, who packed boxes for a full week before yesterday even started, kept the kids bathed, fed, and happy, and kept us all sane during the peak-stress hours late yesterday afternoon. Oh, and that's BEFORE she and the Valdosta crew assume charge over the Mitchell brood for the next 3+ weeks while the rest of this transition plays out. Oxford, here we come! Hope you're ready...
