John finds that dipping his sucker into the jelly on his PB&J lunch makes for some sweet eating. How did they find suckers before lunch? No idea.

Country life

John, in contrast to his brother, finds the country life invigorating. So much so in fact, that he has taken to arising before 6:00 a.m. the last several mornings. His first morning back in Vicksburg was no different, alas. Let's hope he adjusts back to city life soon!

Wiped out!

All that play in Pontotoc left David completely worn out. This picture was taken around 6:30 p.m., and he did not awaken until 7:30 the next morning!

Undoing Dad's hard work...

Best. Game. Ever.

It's called Tire David Out. Here's how it works: M.A. pulls the tiny, leftover (and half-frozen) turnips from the greens patch and places them in a pile down near the garden. David then fetches one (sometimes two) turnip at a time and runs up to the top of the dam to throw them, with great fanfare, into "that beautiful lake." He refers to the turnips as "eggs," and this video is of roughly the sixth round trip. It's also the first such trip wherein he did not sprint the entire way. Needless to say, he was asleep before 8 p.m. tonight!

She did it!

Mary Claire rolled over this morning just before her daddy and brothers left the house, so they were able to witness her new powers. Mama, of course, was packing for said boys and missed it.

We had a king cake for Mary Beth's birthday. Lauchlin, Olivia, and Grady came by for a visit. There was singing. A fun time was had by all.
