Back in the 'burg
And meeting Grady Vaughn Foshee Fields, son of dear friends Lauchlin and Olivia.

Meanwhile, DAM is glad to be back home where he can let it all hang out and just be himself.

The Carousel Museum

DAM liked the small horse in the kid section, but was a bit uncertain about the larger horses that we rode on the real carousel. It was a fun trip, overall. Who knew we were in the center of carousel country? The place no longer makes carousels, but at one time they were the most popular maker of handmade carousels in the country.
The Polish-Irish Bar

We ate lunch today at Gadawski's, a bar Mary Beth noticed on her drive around Niagara Falls the other day. It's a Polish place: lunch special was the BEST mac and cheese I've ever had, with Polish sausage, and perogies. Yum. Owner is a 90-year-old ND fan. He lives upstairs from his restaurant/bar, but wasn't feeling too well today, so we didn't get to meet him. The waitress told me that he's attended every ND home game for the last 40 years, though. Wow...wish I could get tickets like that!
Flashback: The Happy Meal

He liked the apple juice, because it came in a box with the straw. He ate a little bit of the hamburger meat, and nibbled at the fries. Overall, it filled him, but he didn't love it. That made me happy. At least he doesn't prefer McD's to my cooking!

Monday: Maid of the Mist
DAM had an interesting experience on our Maid of the Mist boat tour of Niagara Falls. First, he thought, "Why am I on the top of a boat with a bunch of people wearing plastic bags? Mama never lets me play with plastic bags at home."

Happy Birthday, Grandaddy!
Remember last year, Grandaddy, when you were one year younger (despite your candle trickery), and I was 7/19 of my present age?

Trooper DAM
Two morning flights, a marathon hike to Canada and back, lots of waterfall gazing, and now we're ALL sacked out! DAM rested early and powered through late in the day, until finally falling asleep just before the fireworks. Yes, he slept through them.

Baby Shower Play Date

All my friends climbed through this tunnel.

Not me. Are you crazy?

I preferred playing with the kitty. Meow.

Friday night in Vicksburg

We took DAM to see a concert at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center tonight. Delta Mountain Boys, a bluegrass group from around Jackson, was playing. Not sure what's up with that band name, since they're not from the Delta, but maybe that's why they don't know that the Delta doesn't have mountains? We did enjoy the music.

Remember when?
Our friends Lauchlin and Olivia welcomed their son, Grady Vaughn, to the world today. All their new-baby-happy-family photos kept me thinking about the day David was born. This photo was taken the first time I got to hold him. How sweet he was, er, is...even when he's teething and screaming a lot.

Dancing with the Jailhouse Rock Hamster
Listen carefully and you'll hear the faint sounds of the hamster singing "Jailhouse Rock," before the batteries finally died.

All I need is...

some chest hair, per our friend, Sandy, from who we stole this post. Slow news day.

Carousel ride with Daddy
When Ned got home on Saturday morning, we took the boys on the carousel, located at the furniture store just beside the airport. DAM wasn't so sure about it...

4th of July Flashback

DAM's first July 4 parade. We have big plans to be in it next year, just as soon as we get some red, white, and blue garland for the Ranger.
Playing with my friend, Clara Hartwell. She and I liked the bubbles.
