 The boys can't wait to see them. Mary Claire feels the same way, of course. It'll be her first time to meet Gram. John's already bought new chalk to color with Big Daddy.

Well, she's been bathed before at the hospital, of course. And this photo is a few days old. We're sleepless and confused and forgetful these days, but we are keeping the kids moderately clean. For those who appreciate flashbacks, you'll find photos of first baths for David and John here and here.

7 lbs. 15 oz.

She arrived a week early, and to the complete surprise of her parents. (She was, no doubt, irked by the Irish Saturday night). We made it to Jackson just in time; 20 minutes from doorway to delivery. No epidural--they wouldn't even give MB the option.

It took a lot of wrangling on the porch, and I never was able to get a photo of them smiling together. But I did get separate silly photos. They're wearing their Irish jerseys in anticipation of Big Daddy's visit next week.

John's rash is slowly getting better, and his energy has returned as the fever has faded. This afternoon, after coaxing some animal crackers from his dad, John carried them to the little table in the den and insisted on sitting in a chair like his big brother does, complete with a makeshift placemat.
